CLEANING PERSIAN AND SILK RUGS AND MATS

Washing and cleaning area rugs and mats is always a pain. Many people through them in the washer these days and that is fine because of the material they are made from. But  you can not do that with Silk and Persian Rugs. It will wear them out . Winter is the best time to clean these. This is something my Mother taught me. After it snows take your rugs outside and place them face down in the snow for at least an hour This pulls the dirt and dust mites out and freshen it with out the hassle of bringing it away to be cleaned which can cost a lot. The rugs may be a bit damp when they come back into the house but will dry quickly. Also in the summer months it is best to hang them over a fence and beat them. A good release for anger and a good work out. Just a reminder that this is really meant for the Persian or silk Rugs.
